Ben's Birthday Present...

I asked my best friend Jo to take some photos of Holly for a Scrapbook Canvas for Father's Day and didn't have enough time to do it for that - so I decided to do it for his birthday instead! Here's the final result:

He loved it - and there were even a few tears!

Photo...

This photo was taken by my best friend Jo a few months ago - I hope this is an indication of what instrument Holly wants to play later on!

another year wiser...

Although my cake didn't quite look like that - I felt that way! I had a really nice day at work and then I got treated to a beautiful meal and a movie - thanks Mary for looking after Holly whilst we went out! Another year older...maybe not too much wiser!

New Ward...

Well Ben and I have been back in the Toowoomba Ward for all of about a month, and we both have new callings! Ben has been called as the Ward Mission Leader and I have been called as the Gospel Doctrine Teacher! I guess it could have been a lot worse - but these are pretty full on callings! Plus President Woodforth of the Stake Presidency has called me this week to start working on the 2008 Stake Calendar...Not that I have a lot to do right now! I am trying to input about 15 months of accounting work back into Quickbooks as quick as I can, and trying to look after a 2 year old too! Busy Busy Busy...
Anyway...not too much else to complain about!
I went and saw "Amazing Grace" this evening with 2 of my dear friends and it was wonderful! I loved it - and I truly recommend that everyone see this amazing film - a true story!
Anyway - I am going to go to bed now and dream about the lesson I have to give tomorrow!

Europe...

Dad asked me for some photos of Europe, so here are a few...
In the Munich Town Square - Marienplatz
We came here to meet our guide to take us to Dachau.

This is the sculpture right out front of the Dachau Museum. For those who don't know, Dachau was a Concentration Camp - also an extermination camp. Not as famous as Auschwitz, but it was the model that all Concentration Camps were based on, including Auschwitz. It was so sad there.

We were picked up from Munich by Grega, our driver. He came all the way from Ljubljana in Slovenia to pick us up. That day the poor guy drove for about 10 hours. Jackie and I were smitten - he was soooo cute. His photo really doesn't do him justice! He was very nice too - so it was worth being in the car with him for 2 days! : )

He drove very fast in Germany as the speed limit on the Autobahn is 130km/hr - you can go faster and you won't get booked, but if you have an accident going faster than 130, your insurance won't cover you. Apparently this has only recently become the case. The Citroen we were in certainly wasn't made to go 130, but Grega and Martin (he drove us back to Frankfurt from Ljubljana) got it up to over 170km/hr - we were consistenly passed at this speed mostly by Beamers, Mercs and Audis. They would be much nicer to drive those speeds in. Here is our car - we were waiting to go into a tunnel that had road works going on in. It was almost 8kms long! An incredibly long tunnel.

This is the view of Ljubljana from the top of the Castle. In my opinion it is a beautiful city. You can see the Alps right along the north of Slovenia, and the sea along the west. I would love to go back to Slovenia.

That night we went to a traditional Slovenian restaurant and Ben ordered the Florentine Steak:

We had never seen a piece of beef that big (ever!) and so a couple of days later I asked Rok (our guide) what Florentine Steak was, and he said that it was horse. Ben turned a lovely green colour! He said that it tasted just like beef and he liked it so much he wanted to get right into the bone! Poor Mr Ed.

The second day in Slovenia, Rok took us northwest to a Village called Bled. It is so beautiful! There is a little island in the middle of the lake that has a church on it. We were rowed over there as there are no motor boats allowed on the water. It is such pure water you can see the bottom all the way until it gets too deep. In the deepest part of the lake it is 30 meters deep. In summer the lake is a huge tourist attraction and so we went at the right time! It was such a lovely place to go.

After Slovenia we were driven to Salzburg in Austria. We had been to Salzburg before in the dead of winter. This time it was lovely to see green grass and blue skies. This is the view from on top of the Fortress.

That night we went to the oldest restaurant in the world. It has been a restaurant since 803AD. Mate we don't have anything like that here!

So there was a very quick tour of our Europe trip. Hope you enjoyed it!

My Fiend the Chocolate Cake...

...In Action...

In May a whole group of us are going to see my favourite band live in Brisvegas! I'm so excited!
See their latest song (and filmclip)...I totally love it! Go to www.mftcc.com/mp3/mftcc_homeimprov.mov
Hope you like it as much as I do!

Gangstas Paradise...

ONLY IN AMERICA...
This is the car we rented in Salt Lake City - it was soooo cool! We felt like we should be listening to rap music! This was a big car, but no where near the biggest we've ever seen there...

We saw 4 of these babies in Los Angeles...Hummer Limousines...aaah - only in America!

Inside...

Aaaarrrgghhh Me Hearties...

Black Eyed Holly...

Holly felt like being a pirate one day so she decided to give herself a black eye!
Her cousin Ben liked what he saw! But I think he didn't want to go as far as Holly did!
I think you can imagine the looks I got from strangers thinking I had beat up my little darling. Poor thing hit the side of her cheek bone on the entertainment unit ~ and instantly got the black eye. It stayed for about 4 weeks too!
It was a beauty!

G'Day...

TRAVELS...
We've had a very eventful March & April ~ a really wonderful time actually! We have been very blessed to travel both to Europe and the States in these last two months, and it has truly been a great experience! We were so grateful to have Holly looked after by my parents...and she had a ball without us!
Ben and I were able to visit Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, and it was amazing! This was the only time it snowed while we were there! So beautiful...and the castle is amazing too! There were lots of postcards and photos of the castle at it's most beautiful, which obviously we didn't see, but I thought I would stick a little photo of the castle on here so you just might recognise it!

It was really great to catch up with some great friends in the States ~ the beautiful Lowry family, with whom we had an absolute ball...and whom we miss so much already!!!
Here is Rachel and gorgeous Isaac...having fun at Sundance. Poor Isaac's beanie had fallen down over his eyes and Ben couldn't resist taking a photo!
